BBC Introducing Masterclasses 2012
Some of the of the biggest names in the Music Industry were available on the 19th January 2012 to share advice and their experiences with an audience of young people taking their first steps in the Music business. The Masterclasses covered a range or topics from, songwriting, recording, promotion, DJ Techniques and much more.
Work Experience 2012
As in previous years, we are offering Work Experience for your students during the week commencing Monday 2nd April 2012 : 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. daily
This Work Experience consists of a ‘task’ that will be set for each of the groups involved. The task will reflect the work skills that are expected in the music and multi media workplace. The work will be set, monitored and assessed by AmmA staff. The task will be industry standard work and will necessitate teamwork and working to tight deadlines.

iPad technology in Art (David Hockney)
The presence of tablet technology within the art world has never been more felt than at present. A recent BBC Countryfile episode focussed on the work of renowned artist David Hockney as he prepares for his latest exhibition in the Royal Academy. It is not only the vivid colours that will surprise many visitors to the exhibition, titled ‘A bigger picture’, but it will be the underlying technology behind the works.

The AmmA Centre Lights Up For Christmas!
Armagh held a Christmas Day ‘Georgian day’ where the AmmA Centre was chosen to be part of a spectacular laser show that was projected onto the front building of the AmmA Centre. The crowd turned up in their thousands to watch the magnificent show and be part of the special Christmas Day that Armagh held for the population of the city!

Film Nation success for AmmA and Portadown College
A short film produced by the AmmA Centre and students from Portadown College has been shortlisted for an award in the Film Nation competition. Film Nation is a UK wide project, supported by Panasonic, that introduces film and film making skills to young people.

A recent discussion aired on BBC Newsnight featuring a discussion between Jeremy Paxman and music producer Brian Eno about the role of technology in Art & Music in todays world. Apps and new technology are changing the culture of creativity and the role of sharing and collaboration. It is the beginning of our future and the dawn of the ‘collective mind’.
